Increasingly, the internet is where people begin a search for art. Artbank exposes your art to a worldwide audience of art buyers. Artbank enables buyers and sellers to make contact with buyers able to find and view the art quickly and clearly.
Artbank offers the opportunity to find that initial, often elusive, direct contact to open a dialog with a potential buyer. As with everything else these days, people want to source their requirements quickly and easily from the home or office via the Internet, whether it be insurance, flight tickets, books etc. - art is no different. People do not need to spend time, effort and money travelling to view art they do not like.
If you are a private owner/collector, art bought subjectively is not always easy to sell. Will the local auction or dealer find a buyer who likes it as much as you did when you bought it and get the right price - particularly after commissions, charges, taxes etc? Who is to say that 'your' direct buyer is not to be found in Sydney, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Denver, Geneva, New York, Paris, Amsterdam or London? That's why you should use Artbank and if you are an art professional, maybe you can turn the contact into a regular client.

If a Category, Style or Medium you require is missing please contact us (only Registered advertisers) via the form in 'Contact Us' on the lower navigation bar so we can consider adding it. In the meantime you can always choose the nearest one and then mention in the 'Comment' box found in 'Add Art Posting' what the correct one should be. Anything that is too obscure we may not be able to include.

If an artist already on our database does not have a biography attached - or you wish to edit a biography already posted this needs to be done by Artbank. Please use the 'Contact Us' form and put 'Edit/Add Biography' in the 'Nature of enquiry' box. Put the artist's name and COMPLETE replacement or new biography in the body of the message and, subject to approval, Artbank will add the biography or replace the existing one with the new version.

An authentication certificate is a document authenticating the provenance and/or value of a work of art. It is often issued for insurance purposes. An authentication certificate is usually issued by the original seller of a piece, normally a gallery or dealer. Many works do not have authentication certificates and the absence of a certificate is unlikely to have a material impact on the ‘saleability’ of a work.

It is not unusual for the identity of an artist to be unknown, possibly with inherited art etc. and this need not prevent a piece being posted on Artbank, nor indeed it selling. When uploading your image simply choose ‘Unknown artist’ when asked to choose the artist and the piece will be found by visitors via our normal search facilities based upon the style etc.

It is not essential to enter a date produced for works featured although we do offer this facility. The fact that this is not known ought not to materially impact upon the ability of a piece of art to sell. However there is a facility to put the ‘Period’ so if you are fairly sure you art was produced recently you can just use 21st or 20th Century.

It is not mandatory to put a price but we would recommend it wherever possible so that the time of potential buyers is not wasted in contacting you for art that maybe beyond their budget. If you decide not to publish a price, POA (Price On Application) will appear which indicates you will give the price when approached and may be willing to negotiate.
